GK Boys of Color Roundtable Highlights
Less than half of 16-24 year old young men of color who are not enrolled in school have a job, and roughly 33% are in prison, jail, or are on probation or parole (Martinez & Colby, Changing Places, 2010). The Schott 50 State Report on Public Education and Black Males indicates that only 53% of Black males, in Alabama, graduate from high school.
The Boys of Color Roundtable’s purpose is to convene key funders, practitioners, and policy makers to learn more about the field of boys and young men of color and discuss solutions to the local issues plaguing this population.
