100 Mentors in 100 Days: June 17th – September 24th

100 Mentors in 100 Days: June 17th – September 24th

Growing Kings is launching their citywide campaign to recruit 100 mentors over the span of 100 days. From June 17th to September 24th, the 100 Mentors in 100 Days campaign aims to support Growing Kings’ school-based male mentoring programs.

The call-to-action comes at a time when many are celebrating the most influential male role models in their lives; fathers. While this may be the case for many young people, a staggering 85% of Growing Kings’ students live in single-parent households, most of which are led by single mothers or grandmothers. “We know that young men who don’t have access to positive male influences are at a much greater risk of dropping out of school or winding up in jail,” explains Marcus Carson, executive director of Growing Kings.

Over the next 100 days, Growing Kings will provide updates on new partnerships with organizations forming pipelines to provide high-quality mentors for its programs. Once recruited, new mentors complete a one-day orientation that teaches them about the Growing Kings history and best practices for working with at-risk male youth.
